Fight to save your commercial driver’s license

On Behalf of | Nov 14, 2018 | Professional License Defense |

As a commercial driver, you need to do all you can to protect your license. Without it, it’s impossible to get your work done. In fact, if you lose your license, you are unlikely to have a job at all.

There are many regulations and laws that apply to commercial drivers. For example, commercial drivers are only allowed to drive with a blood alcohol concentration of .04 percent or less and need to wait several hours before getting behind the wheel after their last drink. For any other driver, the limit is .08 percent.

With laws that affect commercial drivers differently than others, it’s important to know how they affect you to avoid your license being threatened. If you make a mistake, like getting behind the wheel after having a drink, an officer could pull you over. That could be the moment that changes the course of your career.

What should you do if your commercial license is threatened?

If your CDL is threatened, make sure you reach out to someone who knows the regulations and laws that apply to you very well. You want to make sure that you protect yourself and to be certain that any stop or arrest made was done lawfully. Sometimes, the authorities do make mistakes, and those mistakes could end up saving your CDL.

For most cases of DUIs with CDLs, you won’t lose your license forever, but there is a likelihood that your employer will no longer want to work with you. This is why it’s important to fight the charges and prevent a conviction.
